Prof. Dr. Christian Wey ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Wettbewerbs- und Regulierungsökonomie am Düsseldorfer Institut für Wettbewerbsökonomie (DICE) und Academic Affiliate bei Düsseldorf Competition Economics. Er verfügt über umfangreiche Projekterfahrung. So hat er zahlreiche Beratungsprojekte geleitet, u. a. zu Verhandlungen und Marktmacht im Lebensmitteleinzelhandel (bspw. Handelsverband Deutschland – HDE, Tengelmann Warenhandelsgesellschaft), regulierungsökonomischen Fragestellungen im Telekommunikationsbereich (u. a. Deutsche Telekom und Bundeswirtschaftsministerium) und im Gesundheitssektor (u. a. Verband der forschenden Arzneimittelhersteller, humediQ). Zudem ist er unparteiisches Mitglied der Schiedsstelle des Spitzenverbands Bund der Krankenkassen (GKV) für digitale Gesundheitsanwendungen nach § 134 Abs. 3 Satz 1 SGB V.

Vor seiner Tätigkeit am DICE war Herr Wey Professor im Fachgebiet Netzwerke und IuK-Ökonomie an der Technischen Universität Berlin und Leiter der Abteilung Informationsgesellschaft und Wettbewerb am Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW). Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Wettbewerbspolitik mit Fokus auf der Fusionskontrolle und der Regulierung vertikaler Geschäftsbeziehungen, und dabei insbesondere in der Analyse von Verhandlungsmacht in Zulieferer-Abnehmer-Beziehungen und der sogenannten „Buyer Power“.
