Prof. Dr. Dirk Czarnitzki is Professor of Economics at KU Leuven in Belgium and an Academic Affiliate at Düsseldorf Competition Economics. His research focuses on industrial organization, applied microeconometrics, and the economics of innovation. After completing his PhD at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW), he spent a postdoctoral year at the University of California, Berkeley, invited by Bronwyn H. Hall and later Nobel laureate Guido W. Imbens.
Dirk has published over 70 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, including Review of Economics and Statistics, Management Science, Journal of Applied Econometrics, and Research Policy. He has contributed to numerous projects for institutions such as the European Commission, the World Bank, WIPO, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, and regularly serves as a member of independent expert groups at the European level.
