With over 15 years of experience, Susanne Thorwarth is a seasoned competition economist specializing in the analysis of complex competition matters. In 2023, JUVE recognized her as one of Germany’s leading experts in the field. She develops tailored, pragmatic, and innovative solutions—delivering clear, data-driven analyses that stand up in expert reports and legal proceedings.
Her industry experience spans retail and consumer goods, automotive & mobility, and the digital economy. She advises clients on both the claimant and defendant sides and has served as part of a court-appointed expert team. Her work focuses in particular on the quantification of cartel damages, the assessment of abuse of dominance, and regulatory matters.
Previously, she worked as a Senior Economist at the German Monopolies Commission, where she focused on the measurement of market power, particularly in the energy sector and international corporate structures. Susanne studied economics at the Universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim and earned her PhD in Applied Economics from KU Leuven in Belgium. She is fluent in German and English.
