Prof. Dr. Christian Wey
Of Counsel
Prof. Dr. Christian Wey is Professor of Competition and Regulatory Economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) and a founding member of Düsseldorf Competition Economics. As Of Counsel, he contributes his academic expertise to selected projects – particularly in the areas of merger control, market definition, abuse of dominance, and regulatory issues in network industries and the healthcare sector.
He has many years of experience advising on key issues in competition economics. He has led projects on bargaining power in the retail grocery sector, vertical relationships in telecommunications, and the evaluation of IP-based business models in medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry.
Before joining DICE, Christian Wey was a professor at TU Berlin and headed the department for information society and competition at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). His research focuses on vertical integration, bargaining power, and regulations in the field of energy and climate policy, such as the energy price brake, the bridging electricity price, CO2 fleet quotas, or the promotion of climate-friendly technologies.
